Despite last minute efforts by the hierarchy of the Sri Lanka Army to prevent a motion being presented by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to the Mount Lavinia Magistrate’s Court with regard to the case over the murder of The Sunday Leader founding Editor, Lasantha Wickrematunge, Magistrate M. Sahabdeen last week granted the motion and gave several orders to the Army holding the Army Commander responsible for the cooperation of the Directorate of Military Intelligence (DMI) with the CID in Wickrematunge’s case.
