He was responding to an inquiry by to Sri Lanka Mirror about media reports that he was going to form a new political organization.

Prior to his Japan visit, ex-president Mahinda Rajapaksa met with PC and LG bodies, who are its members, and entrusted Basil with the task of building it as a strong, island wide political force.

Mahinda has decided that no MP should hold key positions in the new organization which is based on PC and LG members loyal to him.

It is organizing a series of rallies countrywide, with the first to be held on June 28 at Gampola town, followed by another on July 02 in Badulla.
