The nomination by Sri Lanka Netball Federation chairperson Yasa Ramachandra for the position of head of the Asian Netball Federation has been rejected, reports say.

The rejection has come due to pressure by a certain Sri Lanka faction.

Two other Lankans tried to obtain nominations for the position – ex-chairpeson of the ANF Lakshmi Victoria and State Services Netball Association chief Trixie Nanayakkara – but they had been turned down.

Yasa has sent nominations with the fullest support of sports minister Dayasiri Jayasekara.

With the rejection, she has now submitted an appeal to the ANF, which has rejected her nomination on the grounds that she has not held a national level position for a two year period.

However, Victoria too, did not fulfill that requirement when she got elected to the ANF, reports say.
