Media suppression on the rise - CaFFE

Media suppression on the rise - CaFFE Featured

The Campaign for Free and Fair Elections (CaFFE) has warned that government suppression of the Media has increased many fold over the past few days.

The Movement has cited the questioning of Ravaya editor KW Janaranjana by the CID over an article concerning the government's campaign to clamp down on the Media as the latest in a string of incidents.

The questioning of Derana TV news director Shehan Baranage following an abusive telephone call made when the channel featured sports minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage during a discussion was also cited by CaFFE.

CaFFE has also drawn attention to the prevention of a representative who was to appear on a Sirasa TV programme as yet another cause for concern.
