Chairman of the Commission Saliya Mathew has written to the Authorized officer for Licences of the CEB M C Wickremasekara stating the Transmission Licensee is required to obtain prior approval from the Public Utilities Commission for scheduled interruptions of power.

The letter further states that the actions of the CEB are in violation with the conditions of the Transmission License.

Therefore the Commission has urged the CEB to explain reasons for non-compliance within the period of a week.
