A written request in this regard was handed over to the speaker a fortnight ago, said UPFA MP Ranjith Soyza.
The speaker promised to give his decision today, he said, adding that they hoped him to be impartial and to give a correct decision.
Fifty two MPs of the joint opposition are ready to sit in the House as independents, said Soyza.
If Jayasuriya refuses to allow them to function independently, he said, they would disrupt the sittings.
Tomorrow, the 52 MPs will rise up individually and say ‘I am independent,’ and if that too, is not positively responded to, the protests will turn stronger, he warned.
