UNP approves Fonseka’s appointment

The UNP working committee decided at a meeting at Sirikotha this afternoon (08) to appoint Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka to the vacant national list MP position.

Acting general secretary of the party Akila Viraj Kariyawasam said the approval came unanimously.

Fonseka has been appointed to the position that remained vacant following the death of lands minister M.K.A.D.S. Gunawardena.

His Democratic Party and the UNP signed a MoU recently.
