News.lk goes offline

The official government news portal - www.news.lk has gone offline after failing to make the server payment on time, 'Sri Lanka Mirror' learns.

The company handling the website's backend had informed the Information Department of the impending payment several days ahead of the deadline.

www.news.lk won the silver for the best news website and best Tamil website at last year's bestweb.lk competition, organized by the LK Domain Registry to recognise the best websites in Sri Lanka.
