Reports say he had visited the Prison Hospital to meet army personnel who had been arrested for their alleged involvement in the abduction and murder of journalist Prageeth Ekneligoda.

Speaking to media, Rajapaksa had said he was on his way to visit 'political prisoners'.

One of the journalists had mentioned the allegations which cite that the Rajapaksa regime did not investigate Ekneligoda's disappearance. In reply, Rajapaksa said that the they did investigate the matter and even he is in a dilemma whether Ekneligoda is dead or alive.
