In a message of condolence, the president says the revered prelate had strived courageously for the upliftment of society and Buddhism, religious coexistence and democracy in Sri Lanka.

He had played a decisive role in taking the country on the correct political path and to strengthen democracy, he says.

It is the responsibility of all to create the society wished by Sobhitha Thera, the president adds.
