After JVP leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake made a statement in parliament with regard to Avant Garde matter, Marapana appeared on behalf of the private security firm.
The minister’s supportive remarks came under strong criticism at the last cabinet meeting, leaving government in crisis.
JVP’s Bimal Ratnayake told the media yesterday (07) that a no-confidence motion would be moved against Marapana.
The PM’s request to the minister came as it has become evident a majority in the government would support the no-confidence motion.
Opposition to Marapana has become stronger following the death of Ven. Maduluwawe Sobhitha Thera, who had fought for a just society.
