Lawyers to sue on behalf of schoolboy Featured

A group of lawyers are planning to seek legal measures against the police against their conduct with regard to the arresting of a 17-year old schoolboy as a suspect of the Seya Sadewmi murder case.

'Sri Lanka Mirror' learns that Attorneys-At-Law Lakshan Dias and Thushara N. Daskon have initiated measures to file a FR petition against the conduct of the police.

They are joined by the Minuwangoda Lawyers' Association, the Old Boys' Association of the student's school, Go Rights collective and Gampaha District MP Chathura Senaratne.

Speaking to 'Sri Lanka Mirror', Attorney-At-Law Thushara Daskon has said that they would take legal action against the violation of Fundamental Rights that occurred after the boy was needlessly shamed before society even without holding a proper investigation.

CTU too, complains

Meanwhile, the Ceylon Teachers' Union too, has taken measures to lodge a complaint against the Human Rights Council of Sri Lanka on this regard.

Speaking, Secretary of the Ceylon Teachers Union Joseph Stalin has said that they strongly opposed to the conduct of the police.

This incident has caused severe injustice to the student, he added.
