The event, held under the auspices of minister Karu Jayasuriya, was also attended by Prime minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.

A communique which included proposals and demands of artistes was handed over to the Prime minister.

Politicians as well as a large number of artistes from all branches of the Art field were present.

The event was organised by Mrs. Diana Gamage, the chairperson of the United Womens' Front.
