Speaking, Deputy Director (Legal & Planning) of the Elections Department - Channa P. SIlva said that using such screens located at public places for political campaigning, would be a violation of election regulations.
He added that the necessary announcements are being made.
Campaigning done on public transport including the SLTB and train services would be limited as well, he added.
The necessary notifications will be made via the Railways Department, Sri Lanka Transport Board and the National Transport Commission, he further said.
Accordingly, if a TV fixed within a means of public transport, starts to show a political programme, it should be switched off, reports say.
