Rajapaksa’s spokesman Rohan Weliwita confirmed that Silva’s name has been proposed, but said he was not aware if Jayatilake too, has been proposed.
However, former minister Basil Rajapaksa said Jayatilake would be included to the UPFA’s national list.
UPFA nominations finalised
Meanwhile, UPFA general secretary Susil Premajayantha said they have finalized the lists of nominations.
A final decision will be taken in consultation with other affiliate parties of the alliance, he said.
Interviews for applicants from the SLFP have concluded, while nominations for around 15 districts from other affiliates will be considered, he said.
Responding to a question, he said all issues in the SLFP with regard to giving nominations to certain ex-MPs were resolved, while the affiliates have not raised any issue with regard to their nominations.
The future course of action would be taken on a common agreement, he added.
