He emphasised that he has no intention of resigning from his post at the moment.
Speaking to 'Sri Lanka Mirror', Mr. Yapa also refuted reports claiming that he was to contest the General election after resigning from the SLFP-led UPFA.
As the Gen. Secretary of the party, I have already formally informed the elections commissioner that the SLFP would contest under the UPFA coalition, he added.
Accordingly, the SLFP cannot contest separately from the UPFA, he further said.
However, 'Sri Lanka Mirror' learns from reliable sources that President Sirisena is under tremendous pressure from his supporters to sack Anura Priyadarshana Yapa as SLFP general secretary and to make arrangements to contest the general election from the SLFP of from any other alliance.
