Speaking to 'Sri Lanka Mirror', a former SLFP MP said that as Mahinda Rajapaksa would be isolated within the UPFA after his supporters are denied nominations, it is likely that he would contest from another alliance, rather than from the UPFA ticket.

A meeting was held for Rajapaksa supporters at Western Province Chief minister - Prasanna Ranatunga's residence yesterday (03) and at the meeting, former President Mahinda Rajapaksa has urged his supporters not to make any derogatory statements against President Maithripala Sirisena.

Rajapaksa has said that Maithripala is a friend of their team while Ranil Wickremesinghe is their common foe.
