220 corruption allegations against MPs Featured

Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption has received 220 allegations against the parliamentarians including Ministers.

Among those who are alleged also are the individuals who held ministerial positions under previous government as well as the current.

Though it was reported that the bribery commission is dysfunctional since its Commissioner L.K Wimalachandra resigned, the commission states that none of the investigating activities were affected.

Half of the investigations which were conducted with regard to nearly 300 complaints received within the last few months have been concluded and the rest are currently being investigated.

The investigations in connection with the complaints received during the last few months against the politicians and government officials alleging them of defrauding millions of funds and state property are being carried out without any disruption, the commission reports.
