Mahinda backs away!

Mahinda backs away! Featured

Former president Mahinda Rajapaksa has backed away from his demand for prime minister candidacy at the upcoming general election and wants at least to contest on the UPFA ticket, Ravaya reports.
Rajapaksa loyalist T.B. Ekanayake says the party has decided to appoint a member of his faction to the nomination committee and to give nominations to the ex-president.

These decisions have been reached at a meeting attended by general secretaries of the SLFP and UPFA Anura Priyadarshana Yapa and Susil Premajayantha respectively.

Another Rajapaksa loyalist Vasudeva Nanayakkara said Rajapaksa would contest under the UPFA’s betel symbol.

Yapa told the media on May 20 that there would be an exception for Rajapaksa and that he would be given nominations at his home, without having to face an interview.
