According to the 'Randiwa' newspaper, nominations for the 2015 Nobel Peace prize are to be called in September and an international organisation working for global peace and reconciliation is preparing to nominate the Sri Lankan President.
In a backdrop where post-war reconciliation was much needed but deliberately delayed by the previous regime, President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime minister Ranil Wickremesinghe created a decisive political environment which has attracted the special attention of global leaders, the newspaper adds.
It further says that this coalition between the leaders of the two main political parties in the country has been identified as a crucial initiative to reconcile one of the longest running political crises in the South Asian region.
