He also says that although fresh electoral reforms are introduced, it would take over an year to hold an election according to the new system.

He added that such a time period is required to ensure that the public thoroughly understands the new system.

Meanwhile, the JVP leader also said that following the enactment of the 19th Amendment, the National Executive Council would be dissolved.

Although the JVP was in a dilemma over certain decisions taken at the council during the recent past, they were able to resolve these issues through discussion, he added.

However, all pledges coming under the 100-day programme have not been fulfilled, he said.
