Only 45% bribery corruption cases probed - TISL Featured

Out of all the complaints received on the alleged cases of bribery and corruption said to be committed while the Rajapaksa regime was in power, investigations have been initiated on only 40% of such cases, Transparency International Sri Lanka (TISL) says.

Speaking at a media briefing on April 08 at the Foundation Institute, TISL media director Shan Wijetunga says that although the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption has received 1499 such complaints, investigations have been initiated only on 367 cases.

He added that according to an islandwide survey conducted, 62% of the public are of the opinion that the government has fallen short of public expectations with regard to anti corruption measures.
