Sanath Jayasuriya yesterday (03) resigned from his post as Chairman of Selectors for SLC.
Speaking to BBC, Sports minister Navin Dissanayake has said that this was quite normal as the tenure of the committee was to end on April 30.
Noting that he will not intervene in the appointment of the next Chairman of Selectors, the minister has said that the committee tasked with the administration is free to appoint the most suitable individual for the post.
However, speaking to BBC, SLC interim committee chairman - Sidath Wettamuni said that a final decision is yet to be taken on this regard.
On being inquired about charges faced by the previous SLC administration, Wettamuni said that his sole focus is to develop cricket in the country.
He had the sports minister both emphasised although they admit a downfall took place during the recently concluded cricket world cup, they appreciate the services of the selection committee right upto the T20 World Cup.
