Speaking at an event on Friday, the parliamentarian stated that the 19th Amendment to the Constitution submitted to parliament was not the amendment that was drawn-up with the agreement of all party leaders.

He charged that the constitutional amendment had been changed through the cabinet of ministers due to the influence of one particular individual.

Dissanayake also stated that the constitutional amendment that is brought into parliament should take steps to ensure that the current president becomes the prime minister.
