Deputy Foreign Minister Ajith P. Perera says the government is unaware of Weeratunge's whereabouts.

Perera has noted that the former diplomat had not relinquished office in the traditional manner and the government is therefore not aware of which country he is currently residing in.

However, the government is to commence an international level probe into the allegation leveled against Weeratunge.
