Those conspiring to do so have targeted DIG Ravi Waidyalankara who heads the division, and are attempting to portray him as a corrupt police officer.

Several politicians and businessmen who face corruption charges allegedly committed during the Rajapaksa regime as well as several highly placed police officers are stakeholders of this conspiracy, reports add.

According to reports, these businessmen have also 'hired' several journalists to initiate their mission.
