Interpol assistance sought on overseas bank account controversy

Interpol assistance sought on overseas bank account controversy Featured

The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) has decided to obtain the assistance of Interpol to probe into bank accounts of persons on whom the CIABOC has received complaints on.

Noting that they received around 1,000 complaints in the last two months, the CIABOC says that they have decided to dismiss certain complaints due to lack of adequate evidence needed to take them up for investigation.

Speaking, a CIABOC official said that the commission has received a total of around 2,500 complaints, while investigations of around 1808 complaints with adequate evidence, had already been concluded.

Investigations on corruption and Bribery have revealed that many powerful individuals including politicians who are being probed by the CIABOC for acquiring monies via shady transactions, have deposited large amounts of money in overseas bank accounts.
