Controller of immigration and emigration Nihal Ranasinghe said Gunaratnam had been informed of this pursuant to the supreme court order issued yesterday (18).
If he fails to turn up, the department, together with the police, would arrest him, said the controller.
When contacted, FSP politburo member Duminda Nagamuwa said this was an issue of political revenge, political freedom and democracy, as the department has so far failed to respond to a request to extend Gunaratnam’s visa.
The new government is repressing its political opponents, he charged.
