He noted that the party should make way for the second and third level leadership to come forward.

Dissanayake was appointed as a Vice Secretary at the party’s executive committee meeting that met on Saturday.

He said the SLFP is no longer a party under the control of one family and is once again a party based on principles and policies of S.W.R.D. Bandaranaike.

“It is once again a party based on policies and principles. Therefore, space should be made for the second and third level leadership in the SLFP to build themselves and come forward,” Dissanayake.
