UNP will not push to probe Mahinda - Lalkantha

The JVP says that there are doubts now whether the United National Party (UNP) is not acting against the alleged corruption that had taken place during the Rajapksa regime because of a hidden agenda of bringing the Rajapaksas back in to power.

JVP Politburo member, Western Provincial Councilor K. D. Lalkantha made this comment at the “Satana” television programme hosted by Sirasa TV.

“I think the UNP likes to bring Mahinda Rajapaksa back in to power. May be a group including Ranil Wickremesinghe are trying to do it in order to split the SLFP. May be Mr. Wickremesinghe is thinking that coupling Mahinda Rajapaksa with a group of political orphans and a low level gang of the SLFP is a good idea,” he said.

Expressing his views further, Lalkantha said, “If they have any intention of bringing Mahinda Rajapaksa back in to power then charges against him would not be subjected to any probe. If this is the case then the UNP government would not intervene to investigate the corrupt deals of the previous government.”
