Chandrika to head SLFP Advisory Council Featured

Former president Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaranatunga is to be appointed as the head of the Advisory Council of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party by its Central Committee.
The Advisory Council will have the power to make changes to the existing Constitution of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP).

The names of Kumaranatunga along with current President Maithripala Sirisena, former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, ex-Prime Ministers Ratnasiri Wickremanayake and DM Jayaratne were put forward as potential candidates for the post.

The SLFP’s Executive Council and its All-island Council are scheduled to meet today (February 14) to decide on the final choice which will be Kumaranatunga according to inside Party sources.
