A reason for seeking the AG’s instructions is to ascertain the legality of interpreting this situation in relation to the television and radio frequencies which are in the CSN’s name.
Information has come to light that TV and radio transmission equipment donated by the Chinese government have been used by CSN.
Received on 09 July 2009, the equipment is worth nearly one billion rupees, and the then secretary to the president Lalith Weeratunga had reportedly ordered in writing to release the equipment without imposing any tariff.
As per the documents presented to courts, all shareholders of CSN – Rohan Weliwita, Kavishan Dissanayake, Ravinath Fernando and Shadiya Karunajeewa – are all its founding directors.
Its CEO was Nishantha Ranatunga.
A check of the email messages relating to the company has pointed to Yoshitha Rajapaksa’s having served as its chairman and the chief decision-maker.
