Wakkumbura resigns from Kalawana SLFP Chief Organiser

United Peoples Freedom Alliance (UPFA) MP Janaka Wakkumbura has has announced that he will resign from his post as the Chief Organiser for the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) in Kalawana.

His announcement comes in the wake of UPFA MPs Dullas Alahapperuma and Bandula Gunawardana resigning from positions held in the Matara and Homagama districts.

President Sirisena last week removed 13 rebel MPs belonging to the ‘Joint Opposition’ from electoral positions within the SLFP, and made 40 new appointments to district and electoral posts.
