Of the 336 LG bodies in the country, 313 have completed their terms.
They include the municipal councils of Colombo, Sri Jayewardenepura Kotte, Dehiwala-Mt. Lavinia, Moratuwa, Gampaha, Negombo, Kurunegala, Kandy, Matale, Nuwara Eliya, Badulla, Ratnapura, Anuradhapura, Kalmunai, Galle, Matara and Hambantota.
The terms of Kolonnawa urban council as well as Kotikawatte-Mulleriyawa, Kundasale, Kadawath Sathara, Gangawata Korale, Suriyawewa and Hambantota Pradeshiya Sabhas end today.
The term of 23 local government institutions end today, and their administration will be handed over to special commissioners, reports say.
