The president and the PM attended a special meeting today to discuss the appointment of a governor for the CB.

Several names have come up to succeed Mahendran, including Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe, a deputy governor, as well as Dr. Lalith Samaraweera and Dinesh Weerakkody.

Discussions will continue to appoint a new governor.

The president said in Girandurukotte this afternoon that Mahendran would retire tomorrow, and that a new governor would be appointed within days.
