Arjuna says no to extension ; Ravi in controversy

Arjuna Mahendran says that he has decided not to seek an extension of his term in office until the COPE report on the controversial Bond Issue is unveiled.

Mahendran's tenure is to end on June 30.

The CBSL governor had made this announcement while speaking before the Monetary Board today (24).

Ravi in hot water

Meanwhile, Finance minister - Ravi Karunanayake was to have a special discussion with the Auditor General - Gamini Wijesinghe today (24).

Such a meeting has sparked controversy as the Department of the Auditor General is an independent institution.

Attempts to contact the Sisira Wijesinghe, the media secretary of the Finance ministry was unsuccessful. A response to the text message sent to him too, is yet to be received.
