The protest demonstration, organised by the Action Committee for Media Freedom, was joined by journalists, politicians and civil activists.

Although the police arrested the assailants within 48 hours of the incident, it was regretful that those who were behind the assault remain free, the committee added.

They also questioned whether Negombo was still under the former rule even in the days of the ‘Good Governance’ government.
