Water levels of rivers rise again after more rain

The water levels at the Kelani river and other major rivers rose again this morning after more rain lashed the areas and other parts of the country.

Residents living in the areas have been advised to be cautious.

The department of meteorology said that showers or thunder showers will occur at times in the Western, North-Western, Southern, Central and Sabaragamuwa provinces. Heavy falls (around 100mm) are also likely at some places.

Showers or thunder showers may occur at few places in the Uva and Eastern provinces, particularly after 2.00 pm today.

Strong winds at times can be expected over the country (particularly over the Western slopes of the central hills) and surrounding sea areas.

There may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers.
