The SriLankan Aviation College is an integrated training institution that brings together the airline’s SriLankan Technical Training and International Aviation Academy training centres, the national carrier said in a statement.
SriLankan Airlines’ Chairman Nishantha Wickremasinghe said the Aviation College will help train skilled people needed by an expanding aviation industry, locally and abroad.
“As the national carrier, we have a national mission that goes beyond earning profits and carrying passengers," he said.
"This is an amalgamation of our highly equipped and internationally recognized training divisions that were responsible in delivering highly skilled professionals for the last 35 years."
SriLankan Aviation College General Manager Primal de Silva said they will offer a diversified range of professional courses, enabling qualified students to work the industry anywhere in the world.
"Demand for professionally qualified aviation industry personnel is high across the globe, especially in the Middle Eastern region, with the emergence of many commercially successful carriers," he said.
Having trained SriLankan Airlines staff for over three decades, SriLankan Aviation College adheres to global standards, the statement said.
SriLankan Technical Training is certified by the European Safety Agency and civil aviation authorities of Sri Lanka, Oman, Pakistan and the Maldives.
