The Union to support Maithripala was attending by members of the UNP, SLFP, JHU and the Democratic Party along with Sri Lankans representing various other groups.

The leader of SLFP Paris branch Damian Peiris, his deputy Lal Rajapaksa, secretary Wasantha Loku Pathirage, his deputy Wasantha Kannangara, chief organiser Ratnasiri Kodithuwakku and deputy treasurer Nishantha Fernando along with several affiliates and associations of the Party pledged to support Maithripala at the historic get-together.

Aloing with representatives from the UNP, JHU and Democratic Party, they all pledged to work towards the end of the Rajapaksa family rule, the end of mass scale corruption, the setting up of Independent Commissions, the establishment of law and order in the island, the independence of the Judiciary and to save the Sri Lanka Freedom Party from the crutches of the Rajapaksa family among other matters.
