Japan to assist Sri Lanka in wake of flood disaster

Government of Japan has decided to provide emergency relief in the wake of the flood disaster in Sri Lanka.

An embassy media release states that the Government of Japan has decided to provide emergency relief goods (Plastic Sheets, Water Purification Units,Generator etc.) to Sri Lanka, through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in response to request from Sri Lanka in light of the friendly relationship between Japan and Sri Lanka.

In a condolence message yesterday, (19) the Mr. Shinzo Abe, the Prime Minister of Japan, and Mr. Fumio Kishida, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, have sent messages respectively to President Maithripala Sirisena, wishing for rapid rehabilitation and reconstruction of the affected areas, and conveying Japan’s readiness to provide assistance.
