Prime minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has given instructions for the deployment of the armed forces from today (20) to protect the properties of the people displaced by the adverse weather across the island.
The PM said that during his visits to inquire into the welfare of the affected, he found that many were remaining in their flooded properties in order to protect them.
He said the armed forces would take up the responsibility of protecting their properties.
