A special disaster relief centre for children has been initiated under the directives of Education minister - Akila Viraj Kariyawasam.

The centre aims at providing relief to schoolchildren displaced or affected by the prevailing floods.

The centre is open 24/7 at the ministry premises in Isurupaya, Battaramulla.
