The transit or passage of a planet across the face of the Sun is a relatively rare occurrence. As seen from Earth, only transits of Mercury and Venus are possible.
This could be observed today between 4.22 p.m. and 6.16 p.m. in the western sky.
Meanwhile, the Sri Lanka Planetarium has organised a special workshop for those interested in the event, which will commence at 4 p.m. on Monday at the Galle Face Green. The Planetarium added that given that the sky is clear and free of clouds, the general public could visit the Galle Face Green to observe this event.
