Solution for sardine-packed public transport (video)

Solution for sardine-packed public transport (video) Featured

The lack of a comfortable and reliable public transport system in Sri Lanka has become an increased public menace.

Buses travelling at snail-speed according to their own whims during non-rush hours in an attempt to load as much passengers while wasting the commuters' time or buses over packed with passengers during rush hours is a common occurrence.

This has led people to choose private modes of transport, resulting in high vehicular traffic.

However, as many in the middle class are unable to afford a vehicle of their own due to vehicle prices rising sky high during recent times, the need for a more comfortable passenger friendly public transport system is in more urgent than ever.

Speaking to 'Sri Lanka Mirror', Strategic Enterprise Management Agency (SEMA) Chairman Ashoka Abeygunawardena talks of such a system that is to be tested out soon this year.
