Buses travelling at snail-speed according to their own whims during non-rush hours in an attempt to load as much passengers while wasting the commuters' time or buses over packed with passengers during rush hours is a common occurrence.
This has led people to choose private modes of transport, resulting in high vehicular traffic.
However, as many in the middle class are unable to afford a vehicle of their own due to vehicle prices rising sky high during recent times, the need for a more comfortable passenger friendly public transport system is in more urgent than ever.
Speaking to 'Sri Lanka Mirror', Strategic Enterprise Management Agency (SEMA) Chairman Ashoka Abeygunawardena talks of such a system that is to be tested out soon this year.
