Assistant team manager of the Sri Lanka Under-19 cricket team - Shane Fernando has resigned from his post, inconveniencing the team which left for Bangladesh yesterday (15) to play in the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup.

Speaking to media, Shane had said he was resigning after being demoted to the post of assistant team manager, just 03 days before the tour.

Subsequently, it was found that Shane had erased all computerised data pertaining to the players included in the tour, according to internal sources of Sri Lanka Cricket.

This had resulted in five players being unable to obtain cricket boots needed for their tour, as the erased data had also included their shoe sizes.

Although Shane had later handed over a pen drive containing the database to the SLC security, the team had already finished departure preparations by then.
