Mahindananda's massive operation

Mahindananda's massive operation Featured

A bribe in the form of employment has been offered to the former manager of Kettarama International Cricket Stadium Nishantha de Silva, who was to file a case against the Minister of Sports Mahindananda Aluthgamage and Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) Secretary Nishantha Ranatunga at the Commission to Investigate Allegation of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC), 'Sri Lanka Mirror' learns.

It is said that the Sports Minister Mahindanada Aluthgamage is directly involved in bribing the individual.

While Nishantha de Silva was employed as the manager of Kettarama cricket stadium, his service was terminated by SLC Secretary.

Not only did he face a service termination, but also faced a disciplinary inquiry, reports add.

Since then, Nishantha de Silva has remained unemployed, and he had even obtained an interim order from Mount Lavinia Court against Nishantha Ranatunga contesting for the position of SLC Secretary.

Nishantha to commence duties today

Meanwhile, it is reported that Nishantha de Silva is to take up duties as the assistant manager of Kettarama cricket stadium from today (24).

However, the SLC Executive Committee is completely unaware of the particular appointment, reports say.

Nishantha, who had made all preparations to lodge a complaint with CIABOC on Nov. 18 and informed the media as well, did not turn up at the location.

Arundika involved in abduction?

Back then, it was reported that de Silva was absent after being abducted by an unidentified group and it was rumoured that UPFA parliamentarian Arundika Fernando was involved.

Better operation than watching TV

Meanwhile, responding to a question raised by a journalists at a media briefing held yesterday (23), with regard to  Dialog TV and Peo TV blocking the TV channels - Sirasa, Shakthi and MTV Sports of the MTV/MBC media, Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage had stated "we did a better operation than watching TV last night".

Veterans in sports have their doubts whether this 'operation' was the above incident.
