Local rugby to be standardized

Local rugby to be standardized Featured

The SLRFU has decided to standardize local rugby tournaments in order to regulate the level of competition and to add quality to the game.

Taken at an executive committee meeting last week, the decision comes into immediate effect, says SLRFU secretary Nazim Mohamed.

Accordingly, organizers will have to seek SLRFU approval before making other arrangements for their tournaments for any age category.

The idea is to support organizers and to set standards in accordance with World Rugby guidelines.

The SLRFU will notify all its affiliates about the decision, said Mohamed, adding that any organizer foregoing the procedures will not get referees of the Sri Lanka Society of Rugby Referees.

Mostly in junior categories, organizers do not meet proper requirements.
