Speaking at a media briefing in Battaramulla, Colombo today (07) the government is increasing the size of the Cabinet by increasing it around twice a month in an arbitrary manner.
Therefore, the Cabinet has become something changeable as weather, he added.
"During the time of Mahinda's government, the Cabinet passed the limit of 100. Therefore, don't do this to achieve political gains. A country needs a Cabinet to develop the country. Now, the number stands at 92. However, under the Article 46(1) of the 19th amendment to the constitution, a maximum of 30 members are to be appointed to the Cabinet. It also states the number of ministers and state ministers cannot exceed 40. Now the government is even evading the 19th amendment," he further said.
