The committee has been appointed on a proposal by JVP’s Sunil Handunnetti.

It comprises 21 MPs, and the speaker is to be its chairman.

The committee has to submit its reports within six months of its first meeting, and if necessary, the term could be extended, according to proposal included in today’s parliament agenda paper.
